However, after losing an antitrust lawsuit (and a further appeal) in Europe in September 2007, Microsoft was required to make the SMB protocol available.

The Samba creators are now able to make Samba comply 100% with the full protocol, and allow Linux users to have the exact same functions as in Windows users enjoy.

But maybe, it's easier to patch smbclient to get the old functionality back?

Note, however, that when it rewrites the file, it wipes away all comments, so if you're the kind of sysadmin who likes to include documentation within configuration files, you'll have a reason to hate SWAT.

Unsupported parameters are deleted, parameters that have the default value are ignored, and SWAT changes the order of the parameters, so your carefully handcrafted configuration file may look rather bleak after SWAT is done with it. The home page provides access to the man documentation pages and some extra Samba documentation, including some complete books.

Working as root, edit it so it looks like this: to activate your edits.

However, there's an easier, graphical way to configure your box: the Samba Web Administration Tool.

I think that the patch could be as simply adding the following line: DBG(1, (".0f (0.0 kb/s) %s\n", (double)finfo-size, full_dos_path)); You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.

Is there some special command for this or can I just delete them and assume they will be remade on the next boot? I have this Bash script that simply does a nulling to all the given files, w/o deleting them, I use that regularly on my /var/log/samba/ files; so I blwe the contents, if I need to; but I do get to keep the files, which show what machine did connected to my box. If you need to rotate the logs before the schedule of logrotate, just run ./logrotate it's backup the files, open new ones, and then restart syslogd.
